DECA Travel and Tourism Practice Exam 2026 – Complete Test Preparation Guide

A major restriction often associated with excursion fares involves minimum purchase guidelines. These guidelines typically require travelers to book a round-trip journey or purchase tickets within specific timeframes to qualify for the discounted fare. This limitation is set by airlines as a way to manage inventory and encourage advance planning.

While excursion fares can offer significant savings, they come with strings attached that ensure the traveler commits to certain travel patterns. This is why, for those looking for flexibility in their travel arrangements, excursion fares may not be the ideal option. Other choices like flexible travel dates, long stay requirements, and non-refundable conditions can pertain to various fare types but are not universally recognized as defining features of excursion fares in the same way that minimum purchase guidelines are.
